Richard has previously built and had hands-on running of a group of organisations, diversifying his entrepreneurial skills in education & training, property, health, publishing, marketing, transportation and catering.
In 2017 during research for a semi-autobiographical book on adolescent mental health, Richard initiated a collaboration with the University of Suffolk’s Students’ Union and the charity ‘Student Life’ was born. The collaboration grew phenomenally and took the organisation to registered charity status, partnering with over 100 schools, colleges, alternative provision settings and prisons. Due to resulting diversification, the charity was renamed My Life in 2023 having become multi award winning, both regionally and nationally and being supported by some of the most well-known organisations, businesses, education and NEET provisions in the UK. My Life’s groundbreaking project ‘Unlock My Life’ sees collaboration with prisons and YOIs, over mental health awareness education, suicide prevention and early intervention. My Life’s first award nomination for this work followed in 2022, with another in 2023 and then first place in the ‘Mental Health Education Programme’ national award in November 2024.
Richard is an accredited instructor for Mental Health First Aid England and in 2021, became an instructor for the National Centre for Suicide Prevention Education & Training.
In October 2024, Richard joined Jamma International as Director of Wellbeing, tasked with setting up the Jamma Wellbeing charity and brand. This role includes expanding Jamma’s groundbreaking ‘Brain Smart’ education, nationally and internationally.
