MPs say mental health and prevention overlooked in NHS reforms

The Health and Social Care Committee has published a report calling for amendments to the Government’s Health Bill, including a call to increase the proportion of NHS funding spent on mental health services and a stronger cross-government focus on prevention.

Committee chair Layla Moran MP described the Bill as the most significant change to the NHS in nearly 15 years, and said it should be an opportunity to address chronic problems including mental health and SEND rather than simply reorganising bureaucracy.

It is a timely reminder that prevention and early support, delivered outside of clinical settings, has a critical role to play alongside NHS reform. That is the gap Jamma Wellbeing’s work exists to fill.
